Bluebird tea co.

To save us from knitting overload, how about a quick tea break? My knitting sessions are admittedly 30% knitting, 70% tea consumption (I’m an awesome procrastinator). And boy do I like my tea! You know you’ve got a problem, when you have a “Top three favourite tea companies” list…

My favourite by far is Bluebird Tea Co. of Brighton. Award-winning tea mixologists, they concoct the most incredible selection of teas, from the everyday to the extraordinary. And I really admire their ethos as a company – ethically sound and constantly thinking sustainably! I’ve yet to visit their shop in Brighton, but you can bet it’ll be my first stop when I’m next there. You can check out their full collection here but here are a few of my personal favourites!

Earl Grey Creme

I didn’t know it until I’d tried it, but this was the tea I’d been waiting for from the moment I took my first sip as a teen! I drink Earl Grey as my usual morning cuppa, so this was a breath of fresh air. I’m not a fan of overly-sweet teas, but the subtle hint of vanilla doesn’t overpower at all and makes for a surprising variation on my typical brew. Not only that, but it looks beautiful in your cup as it infuses! A firm favourite from Bluebird Tea Co. and a staple purchase for my tea cupboard from now on (yes, I have a tea cupboard…)!

Nearly Nirvana

This is my go-to tea after a meal. I struggle with some mint teas, as personally I find peppermint with green tea can be a bit too bitter. But this award-winning Bluebird Tea Co. gem is a mixture of Chinese white tea and Chinese green tea, giving a softer background taste to the luxurious Jasmine, spearmint and orange blossoms. The spearmint is lovely and refreshing… in fact, writing this has made me want one right now! Just going to pop and put the kettle on.

Enchanted Narnia

“Probably the Queen knew quite well what he was thinking; for she knew, though Edmund did not, that this was enchanted Turkish Delight and that anyone who had once tasted it would want more and more of it…” ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ C.S. Lewis

This beautiful herbal tea is my firm before-bed favourite. One sip and I’m Edmund, sat in the White Witch’s carriage, devouring Turkish delight. You have to try this tea to believe just how it tastes. I think the quote from ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ sums up this tea quite well! It looks lovely while it’s infusing with the whole rose buds, and the subtle hint of cocoa makes for the perfect relaxing night-time brew!
