Curcuma Shawl | A knitting pattern

Ready for autumn yet? Nope, me neither…but this just might help you get in the mood.

I love the rich colour of this shawl wrap – it embodies the upcoming fall season. Cooler evenings, earlier nights, darker mornings – the knitwear starts creeping to the front of the wardrobe…

To reflect this, I chose the deepest turmeric yellow shade of hand dyed yarn to make mine with – The Uncommon Thread BFL Sport/Light DK in Golden Praline (you’ve got to try this yarn!). This shawl would look perfect in any colour, particularly variegated yarns to show up the beautiful garter stitch and rippling border pattern. So pick your favourite yarn and get started!

Just 500yds of sport weight yarn makes one huge but light shawl wrap. (This one pictured measures a whopping 2.23 metres). But even better, this knitting pattern can be easily modified and adapted to suit both light fingering or DK yarns… aaand can be made to any length due to the easy to remember increase and decrease shaping that makes up the body of the shawl. Don’t you love a flexible pattern?!

You can buy the written pattern over on Ravelry and Loveknitting.com now, ready for the long bank holiday weekend. Perfect time to cast on a new project I say 😉
