It’s Christmas Eve!!!!! And after a few weeks of flying low under the radar, I’ve had some time to finish off a lot of knitting projects that were niggling at me to be completed (you know the ones, projects that keep you awake at night or torment you when you should be concentrating on life admin).
Knitted Christmas presents have been gifted, Etsy orders have been all tied up and commissions are complete. Since I started this little endeavour, I don’t think I’ve ever had a moment when I’ve not had something that I should be knitting for someone else. So now, I have all this free time over the holidays to knit for me – what a novelty! And one I’m not taking at all for granted. As much as I love knitting things for other people, I’m really looking forward to casting off on some knitwear that I’ve been working on for myself.
Just a quick note and holiday announcement from me. Sorry for the radio silence for the past couple of months. I promise to write more and show you many more exciting things that I’ve been working busily on for the last couple of months!
Way back in 2014 I wrote a post about this lovely Bristol based company. Figo Home is the brain child of Siobhan McGinnis, who set up shop back in 2013 pairing statement contemporary lampshades with classic hand-turned bases. The result – individual, personal pieces for each customer, inspired both by nature and wanderlust.

These beautiful lampshades and bases are 100% made in Bristol, England – a city I know and love from spending four years there at university. I was thrilled to discover this fantastic company, who’s name literally means ‘Cool Home’! And Siobhan was kind enough to join my Q&A series so you can get to know her and Figo too… Continue reading →
The Shortrounds Knitwear Etsy shop will be launching mid-February.
I’ll be selling beautiful, affordable knitwear made to a high standard and lovingly hand knitted. I promise to use only the best wools and yarns, and offer you an individual, personal service from casting on to your hand-wrapped package finally arriving on your doorstep. I will stock standard pieces of knitwear on Etsy in a wide range of colours, but if you have allergies or sensitivity to certain wools or would like to commission a one-of-a-kind piece, please drop me a line either on Etsy or via my contact page and we can have a chat about creating your unique Shortrounds knitwear!
I recently treated myself to yet another UK handmade purchase for our home, this time in the form of a Figo Home lampshade. I refuse to decorate my home in ‘sets’ of things and anyone who knows me knows I love my homewares to have a backstory, uniqueness and a bit of personality. Figo Home’s beautiful hand crafted lampshades have all three!
